Benefits advocacy for low income communities regardless of immigration status is at the heart CLA's mission. CLA seeks to maximize a household's income by representing clients on matters relating to Public Assistance, SNAP (Food Stamps), Medicaid, Social Security and SSI.
Public Assistance. In New York, what people sometimes call Welfare or Public Assistance (more formally called Temporary Assistance) is generally available to people who have little or no income and comes in the form of a cash payment.
