Honoree Spotlights: Berlotte Antoine and NYCLU-Nassau County

ORGANIZATION OF THE YEAR: NYCLU

CLA is thrilled to honor Nassau County NYCLU as our Organization of the Year, and we thank its Director, Susan Gottehrer, for receiving the honor on behalf of this great organization. Susan, who has been a part of the New York Civil Liberties family since 2006, has been a fierce advocate for improving public defense and initiating police reform throughout her career. We are grateful that she has brought her endless passion for justice to Nassau County working on behalf of NYCLU.
The Nassau County chapter of the New York Civil Liberties Union is one of the organizations leading the advocacy charge against Nassau County Executive Larua Curran’t proposal to house ICE agents at the Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC). In conjunction with CLA and other local organizations, Nassau County NYCLU and Susan Gottehrer were a main player in organizing the successful Press Conference: Keep ICE out of NUMC! at the Nassau County Legislature.
