Our History

In partnership with Joseph Scott Galleries, CLA hosted a live fundraising art auction with proceeds to benefit our mission of providing legal assistance to under-served communities. “Paintings & Prosecco: Charity Art Auction Hosted by CLA” was an amazing success—lots of fun for us and our guests. What a year it was! More than 400 clients served and 450 community members who attended Know-Your Rights educational sessions. Thanks to our families, friends and supporters. And much more to come in 2019!

Our newest team member, Helen Moore, joined CLA as a New York Immigration Coalition VISTA. Helen is originally from Chapel Hill, NC. A Tar Heel born and bred, Helen graduated from UNC last May with bachelor’s degrees in Hispanic Linguistics and Political Science. Helen has always been deeply and personally interested in immigration and human rights advocacy and CLA is thrilled to have her on board as she works on capacity building and project development.

CLA expands its Board of Directors, adding Joel Bencosme, CPA, and Rosemary Ventura-Muñoz, LMSW.
